MALI (Arrahmah.com) – Allahu Akbar! Mujahideen of Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) is reported that they have liberated the city of Timbuktu on Sunday (1/4/2012), a major city in Mali, West Africa, a long-time target of the Jihad.
Mujahideen in Mali whom called by puppet officials as “Tuareg rebels” (Tuareg are traditional people who are the majority population of Sahara) arrived in the city of Timbuktu. Then they raised a black flag.
“‘Tuareg rebels’ have arrived in the city. They plant their flag,” said El Hadj Baba Haidar, a member of the Parliament of the Democratic Government in Timbuktu, told Reuters on Monday (2/4).
A villager told Reuters that the Mujahideen have been raising heir flag over the governor’s office, the mayor’s office and the main military camp.
On Sunday morning, a military member said that he saw 10 convoys car carrying the “rebels” entered the ancient city, which located more than 1,000 km from the city of Bamako, and then they go to the army camp Fort Sidi Cheikh Elbakaye in Timbuktu, where they raised the black flag.
According to the reports, it’s seemed that Mujahideen who came are the Mujahideen of AQIM and Ansar Deen (Malian Mujahideen).
Mujahideen went to the shops to warn the merchants to remove the non islamic pictures or posters like pictures that showing uncovered women.
By capturing Timbuktu, the Mujahideen had “managed to do what had eluded them for decades”, the western media laments.
The liberation of Timbuktu came after the Mujahideen took the garrison town of Gao in eastern Mali, after they liberated the provincial capital of Kidal.
Timbuktu is a city that was once the center of the spread of Islam in Africa in the 15th century and the 16th century. Timbuktu has three main Masjids, Djingareyber, Sankore and Sidi Yahya, recall a golden age of Timbuktu. (siraaj/arrahmah.com)
