(Arrahmah.com) – Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir is again becoming the attraction of the local and international media as a result of his letter written in 3 languages, addressed to the president of Myanmar. According to AFP (3/8/2012) the authenticity of the letter has been confirmed by Son Hadi, a spokesman of the Jama’ah Ansarut Tauhid (JAT), the organization established by Ba’asyir in 2008. In fact, even the website that which specializes itself in monitoring the international jihadi movements, SITE Intelligence Group wrote a report entitled “Imprisoned, Radical Indonesian Cleric Reportedly Threatens Burma” in which the content highlighted that letter of Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir.
The local media also reported about this letter. It was noticed that detik.com, jaringnews.com and merdeka.com used an almost similar title, namely Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir is calling for resistance against the Myanmar Government for having massacred the Muslims.
Looking at the enthusiasm of the media in their reporting and the figure of Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir who is well-respected by Islamic fighters around the world, it is some kind of a serious warning for the Government of Myanmar to re-evaluate its policies against Rohingya Muslims. Because, before Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir called for this, the jihadi networks in Afghanistan and Pakistan had also issued similar statements.
This statement of Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir could be a booster to the statement issued by the jihadists in Afghanistan, as well as Pakistan. This statement can also be a legitimacy for the jihadists around the world to respond and perform an action that would be a nightmare to Government of Myanmar. Because as is known by the international community, even though Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir has not been proven to have a link with the Al-Qaidah network, he is one of the elderly and senior ulama’s in the field of the struggle for the establishment of Islamic Shari’ah and one who is consistent in defending the Muslims who are oppressed. And this is what made his letter to the president of Myanmar as not only a black on the white but a serious enough warning.
In the end, the decision remains in the hands of the Government of Myanmar, proceeding with the massacres with the consequqnce of becoming a new enemy of the Muslims or ending the massacre by seeking solutions that are not harming both disputing sides, time will tell who will be the most harmed if there is one Muslim who is killed for no apparent reason. We will just see the next round. (Theunjustmedia/arrahmah.com)
